Get involved!
Take initiative!
A volunteer is a person who provides services, skills and knowledge for the benefit of other persons, bodies, organizations and other institutions on a voluntary basis and without financial or other personal gain.
Law on Volunteering of the Republic of Macedonia
Why should I join? How can I get involved?
Because you want to help others and because goodness is needed everywhere! Millions of people worldwide are volunteering in their communities, civic organizations, and institutions with a desire to contribute to the good of all, for a better society and better quality of life.
Civic organizations have a need for volunteers who will be involved in their work, to implement their activities and to help achieve their goals. By volunteering you can contribute in a variety of ways, such as to protecting the environment, protecting human rights, educating youth, establishing and promoting positive values in society, etc. Civic organizations offer the opportunity to acquire practical experience that complements theoretical knowledge of such topics.
Opportunities in YMCA Bitola
Volunteering is the main way for interested youth to get involved in YMCA Bitola. To make volunteers’ involvement in YMCA Bitola’s activities easy and successful, we provide trainings and activities to join, as well as opportunities to take on a leadership role in these tasks.
There are several ways to get involved in the activities of the YMCA Bitola: by joining our ongoing programs (arts and culture, trainings, healthy lifestyle, civil society), taking part in a one-time event, or helping with the administration of the organization. Depending on the interests and qualifications of volunteers, as well program and project needs, we work together to find the area and activities which will engage the volunteer and lead to success for the individual and the organization. The duration of volunteering depends on the availability of the volunteer and can vary from one week to several months.
YMCA Bitola also hosts volunteers from the European Voluntary Service (EVS) and U.S. Peace Corps, which offers local volunteers the opportunity to work in an international and intercultural environment. Becoming an EVS volunteer to assist an organization in another European country with participation costs covered is another possibility offered by YMCA Bitola.
